Art
The IAH Art Group has monthly Art sessions at the Hub on Sunday afternoons. At the sessions participants will
continue with their Art development whether that is in graphite, watercolour, coloured pencil, pen and ink, or other
medium. Participants will bring their own materials and equipment to the session.
Asian Dancing
For Asian Dancing you don't need to be a dancer to join in the class. The steps are very simple, you just follow the teacher and move your hands and feet in time to the music. The dance routines are taken from Asian Square Dancing or Plaza Dancing that is very popular in Asia.
Asian Sticks
Long sticks, short sticks and chopsticks - Self Defence using long sticks, (staff) short sticks, (walking stick) and stretching. Participants will be able to master these simple and effective stretching exercises quickly. For long sticks a staff of about 25mm diameter and length of up to the participants eye level is required. For short sticks a sturdy walking stick with a diameter of 20-25mm is required. An old hockey stick can serve as an alternative.
Bands at the Hub
The Sunday Band Event provides an afternoon of entertainment for members and friends. Groups of performers will provide an extended bracket of songs that you can sing and dance along with. If you are planning to come and listen to the music, as opposed to performing, you don't need to let us know if you
will be joining us, everyone is welcome so just come along for an afternoon of great music and dancing, and make sure you bring a drink and some nibbles to share.
Basic Barbershop
This is a weekly opportunity to be part of a group singing in harmony. Come and join us as we explore our ability to sing songs from the old-time traditional Barbershop 'polecat' repertoire in four-part harmony. Open to men and women we are aiming to cater to singers of a wide range of skills and experience, from enthusiastic beginners to veteran barbershoppers who value the opportunity to sing in the daytime with no pressure to prepare for
competitions. Prior singing experience or the ability to read music is not a requirement. The ability to confidently
maintain pitch is handy, but also not essential, and participation will help you find it in yourself.
Each week you will be singing along with members of the Snippets, the barbershop group who have sung at several Hub events.
